This story hits home for me because I have a child who is 4 years from being 14 and is very computer savvy. What worries me more than anything about this girls' story is the fact that she was able to access porn at such a young age and go on to get addicted without any adult in her life finding out! As parents we really need to be more alert as to what is going on in our kids lives.
Oghosa Ovienrioba is a 22-year-old bubbly law graduate who is exposing the perils of pornography addiction via her YouTube channel Sincerely Oghosa. She is seemingly a regular girl with a bright future ahead of her but she her life was once consumed by a secret addiction to online pornography. In a vlog series where she talked about her addiction, Oghosa confessed it started for her at age 14 when she curiously took a peek at online porn on her computer. What she saw quickly became an addiction that was so consuming that from ages of 18 to 21, she would lock herself in a dark room and watch adult movies tirelessly and masturbate up to six times a day sometimes.
She also revealed her addiction stems from being abused at age 6 or 7 and went on for about four years. Oghosa has now curbed her addiction and is trying to help others by bravely speaking out about her addiction on YouTube in a series that has gotten over 800,000 hits.
