Harrison Ford is lucky and blessed to be alive after he successfully crash landed the WW2 vintage plane he was flying Thursday afternoon. Just before the crash, the 72-year-old actor calmly called  for an emergency landing because his engine had failed over Venice. Harrison Ford who has been a licensed pilot for almost 20 years, said he was not going to be able to make the runway at Santa Monica Airport, so he picked a long green at the nearby Penmar golf course to land out of the way of the inhabited neighborhood. Witnesses at the scene hail Ford a hero for acting calm and swerving the plane away from people's homes and saving lives.

After the miraculous crash landing where he plunged 3,000ft hitting a tree on the way down, emergency crew rushed Ford from the scene with a bleeding head wound, a broken ankle and pelvis. The actor is expected to make a full recovery as his injuries are described as moderate.

His son Ben Ford tweeted from the hospital - "At the hospital. Dad is ok. Battered, but ok! He is every bit the man you would think he is. He is an incredibly strong man." Thank God for his life.
