To spank or not to spank? Pope Francis says it is OK

Recently Pope Francis spoke on this controversial issue saying it is OK to spank as long as it preserves the dignity of the child and is not done in the face. The revered pontiff made the comments last Wednesday during his general audience in St. Peter's Square. "One time, I heard a father say, 'At times I have to hit my children a bit, but never in the face so as not to humiliate them,' " Pope Francis said. "That's great," The Pope continued. "He had a sense of dignity. He should punish, do the right thing, and then move on."

I totally agree with the Pope. In my opinion, spanking can be a good way to discipline kids but it must be done properly. Just because children are little does not mean they should not be treated with dignity and respect. Adults must NEVER hit children in anger or on their faces. I see it as barbaric and cowardly! If another adult does something you deem inappropriate do you go about hitting them? I think not! If you have to spank your child, do it on the bum and not with excessive force.
