A baby born while still inside his amniotic sac has been described as a 'medical miracle' by doctors. Baby Silas was born 3 months prematurely at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in California. Doctors performing the Caesarean section on his mother, were taken aback to see his amniotic sac was still intact. The amniotic sac is the sac in which the fetus develops in amniotes. It is a thin but tough transparent pair of membranes, which hold a developing fetus until birth. According to reports, he was still getting oxygen through the placenta until the bag was broken.
Actress Jessica Alba's baby Haven was also born still in her amniotic sac.
