Scientists say: Settle for 'Mr Right Now' instead of waiting for 'Mr Right'

Chris Adami, MSU professor of microbiology and molecular genetics and co-author of the paper -Risk sensitivity as an evolutionary adaptation  states: “Primitive humans were likely forced to bet on whether or not they could find a better mate. They could either choose to mate with the first, potentially inferior, companion and risk inferior offspring, or they could wait for Mr. or Ms. Perfect to come around. “If they chose to wait, they risk never mating.”

When I was in my early twenties, I had a long list of what my "perfect" mate would be. It included all the usual superficial features like height, build, etc. It also had some uncompromising details like religion, sense of humor and family values. I got married pretty early but I can't help but wonder if my list would have dwindled as I got older with no Mr.Right. I do not advocate people settling and compromising their core values however the theory about losing out while waiting is a reality that many face. Do you think people should settle or continue to hope for Mr or Mrs Right?
