This is such an amazing story; one that you may see in a soap opera plot. 20 years ago Sophie Serrano (pictured above, right) and an unnamed woman both gave birth and to baby girls in a private clinic on France. Both girls had to be placed in an incubator for treatment shortly after they were born because they were jaundice. After a couple of days the babies were handed to their mothers...but they both got the wrong girl. The ladies' maternal instincts told them something was a miss but they were assured by hospital staff that they had the right baby.

The truth unfolded 10 years later when one of the girls noticed she did not look like her "father" and a DNA test was conducted. The test proved her right and the family realized they brought home the wrong child. Thankfully both  families involved were able to find each other and the girls finally met their biological parents. The most amazing part is, both families decided not to switch the daughters back!

The Serrano and the unnamed family sought $13.5 million in damages, but ultimately received $450,000 for each girl, $340,00 for the parents, and $70,00 for the girls’ three siblings.

Wow! What a tale! This just proves that it is not only DNA that makes a parent. It is love, nurture and care.
